About Texas UNICEF

What is UNICEF?

UNICEF stands for United Nations Children's Emergency Fund. It was created by the United Nations following World War 2 in 1953 to provide humanitarian aid to children in war-torn nations. However, UNICEF eventually became a permanent entity within the UN, helping to save and protect the world's most vulnerable children and working to ensure child rights and providing health care, immunizations, nutrition, access to safe water and sanitation services, basic education, protection, and emergency relief. Today, UNICEF operates in 192 countries and territories, some of which include Andorra, Hungary, and Sudan

Wait, so what does Texas UNICEF do?

Texas UNICEF is a non-profit organization at The University of Texas at Austin that actively promotes and raises funds for UNICEF, the larger international organization. We are a student chapter that is dedicated to informing and educating our community about the rights and welfare of children around the world so that we can spread awareness and cause a meaningful change in these children's lives. While fundraising is our main goal, we also offer our members the opportunity to volunteer at various community service events throughout the year.
